Literature Text

Pride,
a rabid dog.
Fierce and untamed.
Knowing no master.
Each attack it does to your enemy,
ends with its teeth deep into your own flesh.

It leaves bits of its disease,
into each wound it deals.
Infecting and burning,
all that it surrounds.
The scars act as a reminder,
of the pain it brought.

Once this beast has left,
ripped skin and broken bones,
are all that remain.
You are left as a shell,
hollow and empty.
Only a ghost,
of your former self.

I love the metaphor in this poem. It's just amazing!
